Both CEO Steven Fontana and I (marketing director) spent this last week in Atlanta manning our booth at the MedTrade show. We were there with high expectations and despite the show’s attendance being off by some 50 percent over last year, those expectations were met in spades.

“We saw a continued interest in our SR 500 Lumbar Spinal-Air Decompression LSO Brace,” states Fontana. “In a time when the durable medical equipment industry is in turmoil with many DME suppliers are getting their reimbursements slashed and losing bids in the new competitive bidding environment, bracing is standing tall as a high reimbursement item and the SR 500 in particular is receiving a lot of attention because it is so unique and effective.”
At times the crowds at the Spinal Rehab Booth were standing room only during the 3-day show.
Also quite popular was the new Ortho TENS unit–an electro-therapy unit that has 6 body-specific presets, 2 preprogrammed universal settings that simulate IF and Galvanic, and 1 unspecified/open universal setting the patient or doctor can program as needed.
“The Ortho TENS is a magnificent unit simply because it can do so much yet it is very user friendly,” says Fontana. “It has the added benefit of being a good substitute for IF and Galvanic for those patients that need those treatments but can get them because Medicare does not reimburse for them. With the Ortho TENS they doctor can prescribe TENS therapy (which anyone in need of Galvanic or IF most likely need TENS as well) and indicate the Ortho TENS unit. The patient gets it covered and gets the treatment he or she needs. Everybody wins!”
Now that MedTrade is over we are eagerly following up on all the interest we got from the show. Additionally, we are looking forward to MedTrade Las Vegas in the Spring of 2011.

We are one week away from Med Trade Atlanta and we couldn’t be more excited. Of course we will be there displaying our flagship product—the SR 500 Lumbar Spinal-Air Decompression LSO Brace as well as our full new line up of electro-therapy units including the new Ortho TENS (you have to see this unit to believe it, it has nine modes with six specific body presets, that’s all I’m gonna say for now). We will also have our full line of bracing on hand from cervical braces to knee braces.
If you are planning on attending MedTrade Atlanta (Nov 15-18 at the Georgia World Congress Center) please stop by our booth (2759) and say hello! We’d love to meet you and show you how we can be a true business partner with you to ensure you are providing your clients and patients with the very best product at the best prices to you. Plus we’ll give you a live demo of the SR 500. Once you try this brace you will never go back to the common constriction back brace again.
See you there!

This week Steven Fontana, owner and CEO of our lovely company, is in California making some sales calls, doing some trainings and…visiting his mommy. Meanwhile back here at home office it’s business as usual. The phone is ringing with inquiries and orders on an hourly basis. The fact is, our little company is experiencing steady but significant growth. With the addition of our electrical stim therapy units and accessories and with the announcement of the hard launch of our website having just gone out, we are quite the busy bunch lately. Growing pain is the best kind of pain of all!

As we reported here in the blog last Wednesday, company CEO Steven Fontana packed his bags and headed to Kansas City, MO for a hands on training of the Knit-Rite staff. Steven reports the training went well. “There were about 22 people in the training,” reports Fontana. “It was quite interactive. There were lots of comments and questions, and I could see that collectively they internalized the advantages of the SR 500 over constriction braces that dominate the market. And that understanding will lead to enthusiasm as they begin to sell it.”
A couple of the trainees are back pain sufferers themselves and Fontana left them with a test brace. By noon today Fontana had already heard back from one of them.
“I have used the SR 500 every day! I LOVE this brace…I have been very impressed with the amount of traction that it provides, without being uncomfortably tight. This is very important to me…due to the fact that I wear an insulin pump. The infusion of the insulin along with the inserted blood glucose sensor have to have a very good amount of circulation through the area of interstitial fluid below the surface of the skin. What I have found with other ‘constriction’ braces, is that they tend to inhibit the circulation of the interstitial fluid in and around my infusion sites, which would cause problems with the overall blood glucose control. I have to be VERY careful about controlling my blood glucose levels, and this brace allows me to function comfortably at work, keeping my glucose under good control, while also providing much needed relief and allowing healing to take place in my back.” ~~Jim Gillespie

The halls and offices here at Spinal Rehab Solutions, Inc. have been abuzz as we have focused on giving our online training program an overhaul. New clients and employees of clients that sign on to resell the SR 500 will experience a new-and-improved web-based training course with founder and company CEO Steve Fontana at the helm, talking up key points as he moves the discussion along from slide to slide. The end result is a much more motivated and well-trained reseller armed with a good understanding of the various causes of back pain and how the SR 500 treats them.

Well it is certainly hot now here in the desert. Its on its way to a high of 107 today. But hey, its a dry heat…right?
Speaking of heat, things are heating up here at Spinal Rehab Solutions. We know many of you have been asking how sales of all the electrical stim products have been going that we recently added to our product availability list. We are happy to report they are going rather well. Though still less than 60 days have gone by since our new Website had gone live with all these new products, we have been pleasantly surprised at the amount of orders we have received. A few doctors in S. California have taken the lead, really showing how to market and sell electro therapy garments. We will be sharing some of their secrets in the near future.
That’s it for now! Hope everyone has a great week and a happy and safe 4th of July!!

Today is the longest day of the year in terms of Sunlight. Our wobbly planet has tipped as far North as it is going to until one year from today. From here until December 21 we (at least those of us in the Norther Hemisphere) will see the amount of sunlight we see diminish until just before Christmas.
Personally, I love the extra daylight, as I am sure many other do. But how does it effect us in terms of back pain? Do the extra hours in the day mean we are more active and thus harder on our bodies thus causing us more pain? Or perhaps the extra activity helps us stay limber and strengthen our core muscles thus helping us live pain free.
I’d like to know what each of you think. Simply post a comment here and give me your two cents. We’ve got an inter-office pool going her to see what the most common response will be.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day!
Sincerely,
Michael Harris

Hello all, My name is Michael Harris the marketing director at Spinal Rehab Solutions, Inc., and I am responsible for the content of this blog. Hope you have enjoyed it.
Every Monday I plan on providing a quick inside look into what we are doing here at SRS, and providing some insight into where we are headed. I can’t promise I will have the most riveting news that will keep you on the edge of your seat; but then again we are’t in show business, reality TV or even connected to the latest-breaking news–unless of course it pertains to alternative pain management or to the HME/DMEPOS industry in general.
So let’s get right to it–the insight for today is…that although our new website has been up for over month now we are still working out the bugs. Nothing major, mostly just stuff that we see on the back end. With each passing day we get closer and closer to switching our focus from getting spinalrehabsolutions.com running at 100 percent to bringing on yet more product.
As you probably can tell by surfing through our site, we are a company that specializes in wholesale alternative pain management products. That is our focus, so any new products we add in the future will be within that niche.
Can’t really talk about what products we are scouting at the moment other than to give you a hint that one of them has the initials of K.B. an rhymes with “tree racing.” Regardless, stay tuned to this blog and this site for all the latest and greatest.
Well that’s it for this week’s insight. I’ll be back with more in a week. In the meantime don’t forget to keep checking this blog. New articles, facts, tibits, links, etc. are posted every day!
Ciao for now from scorching hot Henderson (Las Vegas), Nevada, where it’s 97 Fahrenheit today today…and getting hotter.
Michael Harris
